What is the Saturday German course?
The Saturday German course is a specially designed language course for people who don’t have time during the week to attend a German course regularly. The course takes place exclusively on Saturdays and gives you the chance to effectively improve your German at levels A1, A2 and B1. The content is practical and based on the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

How the Saturday course works
Every lesson is varied and interactive. The focus is on real-life situations: dialogues, listening comprehension, writing exercises and role play. Regular review reinforces what you’ve learned, and individual questions are answered directly. The structured approach ensures steady progress – even with just one class day a week.
What knowledge and skills will you gain from the course?
A1 (Beginner)
Understand and use simple expressions and sentences to communicate basic needs (e.g. greetings, ordering, asking for directions).
Introduce yourself and others, and ask and answer simple questions about personal details.
Hold simple conversations when the other person speaks slowly and is willing to help.
A2 (Elementary use of the language)
Understand common expressions related to everyday topics such as shopping, work, family or leisure.
Hold simple conversations in routine situations.
Describe your background, education, surroundings and basic needs in simple terms.
B1 (Independent use of the language)
Understand the main points of clear, standard speech on familiar topics such as work, school or leisure.
Write coherent texts on familiar topics.
Handle everyday and professional situations in German-speaking countries.
Communicate confidently and express opinions in discussions.
What are the requirements?
For beginners (A1)
No prior knowledge needed – this course is ideal for beginners.
For A2 and B1
Basic German skills or completion of the previous level is required.
Commitment and motivation

Modern teaching methods and suitable materials
Classes use modern, interactive teaching methods. Participants work with textbooks, digital exercises and varied tasks that encourage active speaking and the practical use of German.
The required textbooks are not included in the course price and must be purchased separately. You’ll find more information on the right course books in the relevant section of the course page.
Certificate of attendance and the ÖIF exam
After completing the course, participants receive a certificate of attendance confirming their participation.
IFU is also a certified examination centre and holds official ÖIF exams. The exam is a separate service, must be booked additionally, and is not included in the language course. On successfully passing the exam, participants receive the corresponding official ÖIF certificate.
